Recruitment is the process of finding and hiring the right person for a job. It involves searching for potential candidates and selecting the most qualified one.
In Dynamics 365 Human Resources, there are two ways to handle recruitment: Recruitment Projects and HR Recruitment. By default, Recruitment Projects is used unless HR Recruitment is enabled through feature management and HR settings.
Recruitment Projects help organize and manage the hiring process for open positions within a company. An applicant is someone who applies for a job, and their application represents their interest in the position. One applicant can submit multiple applications for different roles within the same company or across different companies in an organization.
HR Recruitment supports recruiting requests and helps transition candidates into employees. If your company uses an external recruitment system, the process might include:
Submitting a recruitment request in Human Resources.
Receiving candidate referrals from the external system.
Completing the candidate approval process in Human Resources.
In this article, we will focus on Recruitment Projects, how they work, and how they can help streamline your hiring process.
Recruitment projects enable recruiters to track progress in filling one or more open positions. Each project identifies the department and job associated with the open positions and tracks the following information:
The specific number of open positions
The hiring manager and an alternative contact for the position
The date the requisition was approved
The application deadline
The estimated start date
The recruitment project also includes the Job ad value, which is used on the Employee Self-Service page to advertise the opening. The opening can be shown to employees only if the recruitment project meets the following criteria:
It has a Job ad value
The 'Display on Employee Self Service' field is set to 'Yes'
The Application deadline is set to a future date
The Project status is set to 'Started'
Use the Application button to manage and review all applications for the recruitment project you are currently working on.
Recruiters can also record the Media used to advertise the opening through external outlets as well as track Developments against the project or applications.
The following are the possible recruitment project statuses and their descriptions:
Scheduled: Recruiting efforts are being prepared, but recruitment has not yet started for this project.
Started: Applications are now being accepted for the openings in this project.
Finished: All openings for this project have been filled.
Canceled: Recruitment has been canceled for this project.
Recruitment project parameters, The Recruitment tab settings control the document types used for automated messages sent to applicants. You can also specify which recruitment project will be used for unsolicited applications.
The Recruitment project aging setting determines how long a project remains active before appearing in the Aging projects section of the Recruitment management workspace.
Similarly, the application deadline warning setting helps track recruitment projects that are nearing their deadline. These projects will appear in the Application deadline approaching the section of the Recruitment workspace.

Recruitment workspace, The Recruitment Management workspace in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (D365FO) is designed to help HR teams track and manage recruitment activities efficiently.
